Forest Farm is an open-world farming sandbox where players transform a wild forest into a prosperous farm. The game offers players the ability to clear the landscape, grow 24 types of crops including trees, fruit trees, bushes, herbaceous plants, ground covers, root vegetables, vines, and flowers across eight different layers. Players can design their own garden layout by digging plots in any custom arrangement they choose.

To progress, completed quests for the citizens of the Citadel earn respect, unlocking further quests for players to discover. Each tool used levels up, enhancing capabilities: chop down trees with an axe, dig plots with a shovel, break stones with a pickaxe, catch fish with a fishing rod, and collect water with a bucket. Upgrading the farm involves crafting or purchasing fences for plot protection, raised beds for hip-height gardening, coops for small animals, and stepping stones for design improvements.

Market interactions allow players to trade their harvest at the local market for gold coins, which can be spent at the builder for farm upgrades, the animal trader for more livestock, and the vegetable market for additional seeds. Forest Farm offers various locomotion styles: snap turn with joystick movement, smooth turn with joystick movement, and teleportation options with snap turn controls.
